Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring an officiate for your wedding, we believe, is a simple process.  Find an officiate who you both feel fits your needs and with whom you "click."  He or she should be a person who will pay attention to what is important for you and one with whom sitting with in a planning meeting makes you feel in your gut that this IS the right person for you

01  Do we have to do a planning session with our officiate?

It really is in your best interest to not only meet the person who may officiate your ceremony, but to spend time with them talking about the specifics of your special day, and explaining how he or she plans to conduct the ceremony.  Also, you should have the opportunity to add anything that has meaning for you both to the ceremony.

02  Will we be required to pay now, even if our wedding is a year away?

The officiate has to book the calendar date on his calendar in order to be HIRED by you.  To do that booking requires that payment has to be made.   The officiate spends most of their time preparing for your wedding date, not on the wedding date, but in the days following the HIRE.  Usually that means they have to record their notes and instructions for you right after the planning meeting, and then writing the personalized script of the wedding.

03  Do you accept different forms of payments?

Yes, we accept cash, personal checks, and most credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and PayPal.  We process credit cards through PayPal.  Use of a credit card or PayPal to pay your wedding fees require an additional charge of $25 added to your wedding fee.  This is to take cae of the finance charge and processing fee that PayPal imposes on us.

You must pay the full payment as soon as you want, even at the planning meeting.

04  Is a gratuity (tip) expected on the day of the wedding?

While a gratuity is not required, it is customary to offer a tip to the officiate after the wedding ceemony is done.  IT is usually handled by the father of the bride or groom, but it can be done by anyone.  How much depends your own preference, but the customary amount is $50 or more.

05  If I have a question after the planning session, can I ask the officiate directly?

The officiate expects you to be completely happy with their service and, in the end, with the ceremony, so YES, please contact the officiate directly with ANY questions you have.  The best and easiest way is by email, so that you don't trade messages back and forth AND so that the officiate can send you the answer to your question right away in the email.
